As trauma specialists, we know that when you give a child an artistic tool such as a crayon or marker, you give them a way to unlock a world of emotions, thoughts, memories and feelings that are necessary to share in order to promote healing. This workbook has been designed with this principle in mind. Over 30 workbook pages are included and written from the perspective of either a little girl or boy who has entered the fostering system. It is intended to be a starting point that will open the door to communication about feelings often left unspoken. The workbook asks questions that children will not address on their own such as the confusion about the new rules in their new home. It will also allow them to address issues, which may have been thought to be a subject to avoid such as missing mom and dad. This workbook was designed for use in the early days after entering the system to give a voice to the children who do not even know what to say.

NEW in 2010! The Faith-Based Trauma Intervention Program Supplement is designed to be used in conjunction with TLC's Trauma Intervention Program for Children and Adolescents.

There is an additional complex dynamic of the trauma experience that happens when a person of faith is met with tragedy. They not only have to deal with the normal areas that are identified through the SITCAP® model, but they also have to come to grips with what they believe happened to them from a spiritual perspective. In other words, they not only have to deal with their pain, and loss, but they also have to work through what they believe God’s role is in their tragedy. Underlying distorted beliefs about God tend to emerge,which add to the pain and sometimes even worsen the terror that is being experienced which often compounds/complicates the trauma intervention process. This supplement will help with working through these distorted beliefs by engaging sensory activities designed to help individuals experience different perspectives.

Specifically designed for Judeo-Christian populations, but can be modified to fit all faiths.
